JFK: A Three Part Series with Dr. Gary Hylander

Professor Gary Hylander will present a seriesof historical lectures about John F. Kennedy to celebrate the centennial anniversary of his birth. A professor of history at Framingham State University, Hylander earned his Ph.D.from Boston College and specializes as a presidential historian. He is a frequent presenter and is often featured as a commentator on local cable news and radio. No registration is required and all are welcome! Generously sponsored by the Friends of the Westwood Public Library. Feel free to attend any and all of these lectures!

Harry Potter Book Night

They say that the influence of a good teacher can never be erased so who better to celebrate on Harry Potter Book Night than Hogwarts’ professors! We will once again gather together to celebrate J.K. Rowling’s wonderful series --  and pass the magic on to young readers who haven’t yet discovered these unforgettable books.

 

Young wizards, witches, and muggles will be treated to an evening of games, activities, readings, and quizzes! It all begins when the Sorting Hat decides who will be in which House and then participants will compete for the House Cup during each of the evening’s challenges! Families of all ages who enjoy the Harry Potter books are welcomed. Come dressed as your favorite character, prizes will be awarded for the best dressed!

We will have 20 minutes of storytime, followed by some time for babies to play & parents/caregivers to talk. New storytime-goers are ALWAYS welcome, as are older siblings! This is a drop in storytime and no registration is required.

Sensory Storytime

For children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental delays and a parent/caregiver (siblings are also welcome!). We will enjoy stories, rhymes, and songs together in this sensory-friendly storytime. This 20-minute storytime will feature a visual schedule, hello & goodbye songs accompanied by American Sign Language, and a sensory-friendly activity at the end – perfect for group or parallel play.
