Jr. Friends of the Library

About the Jr. Friends

The Jr. Friends is a volunteer group offered by a joint partnership between the Children’s Department librarians and the Friends of the Library. To become a member of the Jr. Friends, you must be in the 8th – 12th grade, complete a Jr. Friends application, hand in a notarized copy of the Westwood Public Library’s volunteer agreement, and commit to a Jr. Friends volunteering session. The volunteer agreement may be notarized for free at the Westwood Town Hall, you must bring an ID (school ID is fine) and a parent for this. Parents cannot get this agreement notarized without you present.

Jr. Friends Tasks

Volunteer tasks completed by the Jr. Friends may include but are not limited to: helping Children’s Department staff prepare for pre-existing library programs (i.e. storytime crafts, special program set-up, etc.), shifting library collections, shelf-reading, and organization of library spaces as well as assisting with preparations and volunteer staffing of Friends of the Library special events (i.e. Westwood Day, book sales, etc.).

Jr. Friends 2015 Volunteer Sessions:

The JR Friends will not meet until after January 2016. Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,
