Meet Your Children’s Librarians
Lizzy McGovern, Head of Children’s
Lizzy has been working in the Children’s Department of the Westwood Public Library since 2010. Lizzy presents Little Listeners storytime (ages 3-5) as well as programming for school aged children. Her favorite children’s books include: Books of the Beginning series by John Stephens, The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare, The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani, and Lockwood and Co. series by Jonathon Stroud. Outside of the library Lizzy enjoys kayaking, sneaking french-fries and milkshakes and watching Doctor Who, Teen Wolf and Buffy.
Hannah Gavalis, Children’s Librarian
Hannah has been working as a Children’s Librarian in Westwood since 2013. Hannah presents Babies & Books storytime (birth – 24 months), Terrific Twos storytime (children aged 2), Sensory Storytime, and various programs for school aged children. Some of Hannah’s favorite books include A Visitor for Bear by Bonnie Becker, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott and the Alvin Ho series by Lenore Look. When not at the library, Hannah enjoys drawing & painting, laughing at her own jokes and watching Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls and Masterpiece Theater.
Karen has been working in the Children’s Department since 2003. Karen presents Creative Kids (grades K-1), a dramatic arts program, in addition to helping out with other programs in the Department. Her favorite children’s books include: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, I Love You like Crazy Cakes by Rose Lewis, The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall, and Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary. In her spare time Karen enjoys photography, spending time with family, scrapbooking and baking.
Suzie has been working in the Children’s Department since 2014. Suzie’s favorite children’s books include: the Snip, Snap, Snur series by Maj Lindman and the Peppa Pig series. Outside of the library, Suzie enjoys going to the beach, writing, swimming, gardening, and inventing new chowders and casseroles. Suzie is the author of The Land of Chocolate Cosmos, The Popcorn Hydrangea of Poppingtom, The Candy Roses of Cape Care, and Boston You’re My Home.
