Changes coming to the Commonwealth Ebook Collection
The Commonwealth eBook Collection is moving to OverDrive
On June 30, 2018 the Commonwealth eBook Collections’ (CEC) access to Axis 360, BiblioBoard and eBook Central will end. That means that any eBooks on Axis 360, BiblioBoard, and eBook Central you have checked out will no longer be available and any holds on eBooks through those platforms will be cancelled. You will still have access to eBooks through your library or network’s Overdrive collection.
The reason we’re moving is so that we can expand the selection of eBooks and audiobooks that you have available for checkout, and so borrowing an eBook becomes more like a print book where you have access to collections across Massachusetts. Nearly 22,000 titles from the CEC will still be available to you, and now you’ll also have access to thousands more through titles currently available on Overdrive through the networks.
You may need a new app
To begin accessing books, download OverDrive’s Libby App. It will give you the easiest access to the expanded eBook collection. If you are blind or visually impaired, the OverDrive app will better serve you. To download, use the app store on your device, or visit https://www.overdrive.com/. This cooperative effort is funded by the Automated Resource Sharing Networks, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners —made possible in part with Institute of Museum and Library Services funding—, the Massachusetts Library System, and local libraries.
