This is a new group for adults interested in writing. The Westwood Writers' Group will meet once a month to:

• write together
• critique each other's work
• discuss a writing topic of interest for the group

It doesn't matter if you have been writing for years or just thinking about it. It doesn't matter if you write romance or thriller or literary fiction. It doesn't matter if you write very short fiction or 500K word novels. All are welcome!

Mah Jongg for Beginners

Join the ranks of Mah Jongg enthusiasts nationwide who are reaping the social and intellectual benefits of playing this challenging tile game. No experience needed.

By the end of the six-week session, players will have mastered the basics: setting up the tiles and racks, dealing and passing tiles, choosing a hand by interpreting the Mah Jongg card, and playing a round. Gary Hylander, PhD & “Einstein’s Letter”

Now living in the United States, Albert Einstein in October, 1939, sent an urgent letter to President Franklin Roosevelt recommending that American scientists should begin work on developing an atomic bomb. It was Einstein’s fame and the outbreak of World War II in Europe that captured Roosevelt’s attention. The Manhattan Project followed.

This is first of the a three lecture series on World War II. Join us for lectures on the 75th Anniversary of D-Day (11/6) and the 75th Anniversary of The Battle of the Bulge (12/11), also at 7:00 PM.

This lecture series is open to all and is funded by the Friends of the Westwood Library.
