First Line Frenzy, scheduled for tonight, has been cancelled due to illness. We hope to reschedule this, or a similar event next month. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and look forward to hosting additional writing events in the future. If you have questions, would like to be emailed when this event is rescheduled, or have a specific program request, please contact Molly Riportella at mriportell@minlib.net. You may also reach out to the instructor, Rebecca Heyman, at beccaheyman@gmail.com.
------
First Line Frenzy is a community learning project from longtime freelance book editor, Rebecca Heyman. Participants submit the first line of their novel (anonymously!), and Rebecca provides educational, supportive, nuanced critiques that help lead authors to a better understanding of what makes a great opening line. Authors who wish to have their work included in the live presentation should email their novel's first line to beccaheyman@gmail.com with subject line "First Line Frenzy". Don't have a first line to share? All are welcome! Join us to learn about what makes a strong opening line, and get other tips & writing advice from Rebecca. Registration is encouraged, though not required. Call 781-320-1045 to register.
Rebecca Faith Heyman holds a BA and MA in English and American Literature (min. Creative Writing) from New York University. She’s an advisor to the board of Reedsy, Inc., and the founder and director of The Work Conference, an annual, weekend-long, boutique writers' conference in NYC. Rebecca believes that humor, honesty and keen discernment are the foundations of good editorial work. She lives outside of Boston with her husband, two kids, and Siberian cat.

The word narcissism is frequently used these days. Where did it come from? What does it mean? How does its presence effect the human race? Who benefits from it? Who suffers from it? Can knowing more about it help the human race?
Our speaker, Susan Lynne Arnold, will offer her thoughts, and other experts’ thoughts, about these questions. She will also invite the audience attendees to share their questions and comments.
In 2019, Ms. Arnold authored a book about narcissism titled Memoir of a Narcissist’s Daughter. The book tells the story of a daughter’s recovery from the life-depleting effects of her mother’s narcissism. Ms. Arnold will read the Introduction to her book, and then take questions and comments about it from the audience.
At the end of the presentation, Ms. Arnold will provide copies of her book for those who want one. Registration is required. Please email mriportellla@minlib.net or susanlynnearnold2@gmail.com, call 781-320-1045 or stop by the 2nd Floor Information Desk to sign-up. This event is free and open to all.
